Most memorable outdoor moment:
Last year when I was working with an SCA leader crew in the Grand Canyon, I hiked down some switchbacks to clear the trail of hikers so that my crew could trundle a boulder down the trail. At the bottom, I yelled 'clear' up to my crew to indicate that there were no hikers and I was safely out of the way of danger. As I was standing there waiting for my crew to navigate the monster boulder above, I looked across a wash and tucked into the cliffs on the other side was a Great Horned Owl. The owl and I sat and watched each other for a good ten minutes before we heard the rock come crashing down. The owl, who was not expecting such a ruckus in his neck of the woods, just about turned his head all the way around and popped his eyeballs out of his head. It was a very unique and memorable moment, hanging out with this endangered animal for a few minutes.
